What the knowledge test contains
The knowledge test is a computer exam with one correct option per question. Five questions are trial items Trafikverket uses to evaluate new content. You cannot tell which they are, so answer all of them.
Questions cover vehicle knowledge and manoeuvring, environment, traffic safety, traffic rules, and personal conditions. Rules and safety carry the most weight.
You typically need a valid learner’s permit. Risk training must be registered as required for your licence category. Book and pay in Trafikverket’s booking service.

How to practise without memorising the wrong thing
- Train for a margin
- 52 of 65 is a pass. Aim higher in practice so a nervous day at the test office still works. Drill weak areas, not only full mock tests.
- Other categories use other numbers
- AM, A1, A2 and A follow the same 65+5 model as B in the regulation. Several heavy categories use 55 scored questions and 44 to pass. Always check Trafikverket for your category.
Common mistakes
- Skipping questions because five are trials — you do not know which.
- Booking before the learner’s permit and required risk training are in place.
- Assuming online practice items are Trafikverket’s official questions.
